Boundaries
What patients should not expect
Clear expectations help you decide whether this practice is the right fit.
—Guaranteed outcomes
—A one-size-fits-all protocol
—Identical treatment at every visit
—Diagnosis outside the practitioner’s legal scope
—Replacement of urgent or necessary conventional medical care
—A predetermined number of sessions before assessment
Fit and referrals
The right match matters
If the practitioners believe another provider is more appropriate, they may recommend a referral. A practitioner–patient fit matters.
If acupuncture is not the best next step, your practitioner may suggest another clinician or specialty care. That honesty is part of responsible integrative practice.
Practical answers about comfort, timing, insurance, booking, and care coordination.
Most people feel little more than a brief sensation when needles are placed. Some points may create a dull ache, warmth, or heaviness. Tell your practitioner if anything feels sharp or intolerable—comfort and communication matter.
Comfortable, loose clothing that allows access to arms, legs, and the back is usually best. Your practitioner will guide you if specific access is needed.
Visits may last up to approximately 60 minutes. Exact timing depends on the visit type and clinical needs—confirm when you book.
There is no universal number. Plans are individualized based on your presentation, goals, and response over time.
Yes—many patients combine acupuncture with physical therapy or other care. Coordination with other clinicians is welcomed when appropriate.
Dry needling may be used within acupuncture care when clinically appropriate. Confirm booking details with the practice—standalone availability depends on presentation and practitioner.
Pediatric care is considered case by case. Contact the practice before booking for patients under 18.
Acupuncture during pregnancy may be appropriate in some cases. Always disclose pregnancy or possible pregnancy before treatment; care is individualized and coordinated with prenatal providers as needed.
Ming Acupuncture does not currently bill insurance directly. Receipts or superbills may be available for possible out-of-network reimbursement — coverage is determined by your insurer.
